Beyond the client work that built its reputation, Podcraft Media Lab has quietly run a mentorship program that has helped launch more than 20 independent podcasts for underrepresented creators. The program sits alongside the commercial production work that has made founder and podcaster Greg Soros a known name in the audio industry over the past several years.
A Second Track for the Business
Soros started the Austin company in 2020 after leaving a senior producer role at a prominent media company, and he built the business around premium, small scale production rather than volume. That same philosophy carried over into the mentorship effort, which pairs newer creators with the same production standards used for the company’s Fortune 500 clients and biggest names.
The mentorship work runs alongside a client base built largely on referrals, with close to 40 percent of new business arriving through other companies in the audio ecosystem, including networks that outsource their most demanding projects. Soros has said the goal was never to handle every kind of content, but to be excellent at one kind and let that reputation open doors for others coming up behind him.
Working out of a converted garage studio on Austin’s East Side, Greg Soros combines a Berklee College of Music education with years of industry experience to produce what colleagues call a signature sound, blending digital precision with organic texture in every episode his team touches.
Client satisfaction across the business remains above 95 percent, and several shows have picked up industry recognition. For podcaster Greg Soros, the mentorship track has become as much a part of the company’s identity as the polished audio it delivers to major brands.
The pairing of commercial and mentorship work is unusual for a shop of its size. Most boutique studios pick one lane and stay there, but the Austin company has found that the two efforts reinforce each other, with lessons from big budget projects filtering down into the guidance offered to newer creators.
