Sheldon Lavin – Achieving Greater Heights At OSI Industries LLC
Sheldon Lavin is the owner of OSI where he is also the Chairman and the CEO. Sheldon Lavin began his career in the meat industry over 46 years. Initially, he worked in the banking sector where he was an investor and an executive. He also owned a finance consulting firm.
In 1970, Sheldon Lavin arranged financing Otto & Sons Company which wanted to build a meat processing facility to be supplying to the McDonalds. Sheldon joined to work with Otto & Sons part time. With time, OSI was growing, and Sheldon decided to join the company and work full time.
Otto & Sons opted to change its name to OSI Group. The company expanded to North America and Europe and later to South America and Taiwan. One of the original partners of OSI retired while the other sold his shares to Sheldon who now owned the company fully.
Afterward, the company has developed its global network with a presence in China, Australia, Japan, Philippines and South Africa. Sheldon prides in the presence of OSI culture overseas. He says that OSI is currently the biggest protein supplier to the McDonald worldwide. The headquarters of OSI are in Aurora Illinois.
OSI Industries, LLC has a good reputation of offering quality meats. Its products are bacon, hot dogs, meat patties, pizza, pork, and poultry. Besides McDonald’s, OSI also supplies meat to Subway, Starbucks and Pizza Hut. The industries have received several awards in health and safety risks management.
In 2011, OSI was listed by Forbes as the 136th largest private company in America. In 2016, OSI was ranked by Forbes as number 58 of the largest private Companies. Its annual revenues were $3 billion. At the same time, Sheldon, its CEO, was awarded the Global Visionary Award by the world academy in India. This was in recognition of the industries’ accomplishments and perseverance.
Sheldon is a Philanthropist working with many Jewish charity organizations such as Ronald McDonald House Charities, Chicago inner city foundation, Jewish United Fund, Evans Scholarship Fund, United Negro College Fund and many others.
Sheldon Lavin is a father of three children and a grandfather of several other children. He is over 80 years old. He continues to manage OSI Industries and considers its employees as part of his extended family.
