Jeremy Goldstein: Everyone Benefitting from the LRIS
Organizations like the New York State Bar Association have been around for over a century. That entire time, they’ve crafted their services to best help as many people as possible. Lately, the State Bar Association’s trusted branch, the Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS), is the leading provider of legal assistance.
According to Claire Gutekunst, State Bar President, people need lawyers during times of stress. The objective of the LRIS is to lessen that stress by offering lower pressure ways to get legal help. By using the LRIS, New York residents can feel confident about the lawyer they retain.
Last year, the LRIS trained its staff to take over 10,000 phone calls. Additionally, they launched a new online portal. Unlike the phone service, the online portal is available 24 hours a day. This new service is the New York State Bar Association’s way of bringing their service into the future.
Not only are New York residents getting a more convenient way to find legal help, New York attorneys now have a form of free client searching. Countless small practices are benefitting from the LRIS and have been for decades. In many cases, the LRIS helps attorneys find new clients.
